It’s a price point that makes a complete mockery of the high-end LCD market, and we think slightly weaker sound is a completely fair tradeoff when the picture quality is this good. As a final point, the B7′s phenomenally low input-lag (most have measured it as being around 21ms) means this is a great gaming TV. 

Oh, and before we forget: Dell is also throwing in a free eGift Card with every order, with the total value depending on the cost of the item on offer. The lowest credit note we found is $50, and that comes bundled with a 43-inch LG LED TV at $250; and the steepest is $450, and that’s included with a 55-inch OLED at $2,000.

You won’t find much in the box besides the TV. In addition to the stand, which comes in three parts accompanied by eight Philips-head screws, you get LG’s Magic Motion remote control, a couple of AA batteries, and a breakout cable for older A/V components. Like that VCR you can’t wait to see upscaled on a 4K screen.

Why’d it look so bad? Well, there’s no getting around dark things being difficult to see, but the main added issue here is compression. By the time Game of Thrones reaches your TV or mobile device each Sunday night, it has been thoroughly compressed — both by HBO and by your cable / satellite / streaming provider of choice. This is a necessity to make the show accessible to a wide range of people with different internet connection speeds. Of course, it’s very unlikely any of those models will be able to offer the same viewing angle capabilities as this set. We’ll need more time with the TV to offer a full judgement, but the SM9500 is looking like a very solid option for users who want a versatile living room display capable of higher brightness than an OLED while still maintaining strong viewing angles.

That’s a shame because the idea of a 65-inch TV that can compact itself down into a box the size of a TV cabinet is incredibly tempting. When it’s not in full-size TV mode, the screen can also be partially retracted to hide the black bars at the top and bottom of any content with a 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio, or it can rise up just a little bit to show smart TV notifications.

Those other TV makers could conceivably come up with their own dual-module technology as well, but Ninesling says it won’t be soon. "We’ve been working on this for years, and we know that we’re way out front. The precision bonding that has to take place to align two 4K modules is state-of-the-art factory technology."

If you want a bright, dazzling QLED screen to light up your home – or a solid budget option like the NU7100 – Samsung is your best bet. If you really want the most impressive picture quality out there, regardless of price, nothing currently beats LG’s OLED panels for color and contrast (see: LG’s C9 OLED).
