Well, we already talked about design and software, now let’s confabulate about the connectivity. Apart from the Ethernet connection (RJ45), the other way to connect internet on the TV is WiFi. The Samsung Q70 sounds fairly good for a modern TV, in part thanks to its direct LED backlight requiring a deeper chassis. That means there’s slightly more room in which to install a decent set of speakers, even if they are still downward-firing. There’s a good sense of stereo separation, a solid midrange, and well-defined treble, but the bass is fairly limited.
A larger screen is also harder to fit into cramped spaces, and can dominate the room it’s in. That’s fine if you want to give your TV pride of place, but worth considering before you jump for the biggest screen you can find.
Deadpool also looks very good on the C9. While the TV’s whites are slightly cool, its reds hit the DCI-P3 color value spot-on, which makes Deadpool’s red costume look balanced and well-saturated even under the overcast lighting of the opening scene. The burning lab fight is also full of detail, even in the very dark shadows cast by the bright oranges and yellows of the flames.
