The million 680-dollar question is whether this particular television is worth your hard-earned cash, and we’re confident in saying it is. Last year owners of 2018 LG OLEDs reported issues with flashing, black crush and macro-blocking in darker parts of the image. These issues appear to have been addressed in this year’s models. There were no signs of flashing or black crush in the image, and although macro-blocking was occasionally visible this was related to poor quality compression rather than the C9 itself.

Hisense followed its information session with a side-by-side comparison. Engineers had set up a prototype 65-inch ULED XD TV — the version with the 1080p luminance module — next to the LG OLED65B8, an OLED TV that won CNET’s Editors’ Choice award in 2018. Unfortunately, they didn’t allow me to take any pictures.

One last note I’d add here is that so far nobody is showing signs of big deals on Samsung’s really high end TVs – either its Q9, Q8 or new 8K Q900R TVs. If some good deals on these sets to turn up, I’ll post a separate article showing you where to find them.
