The Magic Remote is now-standard LG high-end TV fare. It’s a curved black plastic wand dominated by a direction pad with a clickable scroll wheel in the middle. Volume and channel rockers, a number pad, and a pinhole microphone sit above the direction pad, while source, Guide, Play, Pause, and four color buttons sit below alongside dedicated service buttons for accessing Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. The remote also works as an air mouse, letting you control an on-screen pointer by waving it around.

Sure, you might have brought home a 4K television just last week. But there’s no stopping the march of progress, and Samsung is at the vanguard with this set. It’s an 8K panel—roughly 8,000 pixels wide and packing four times as many points of light as a 4K TV. Anyone with cash to burn can plop this 125-pound beast onto a stout pedestal and be engulfed by the 85-inch display. As usual, Samsung has created a 4K UHD TV with superb upscaling power in its internal processor. The Q60R delivers excellent rendering of non-4K content across the board and while 1080p Blu-ray disc quality or high quality streamed 1080p movies will upscale at their absolute best on the Q60’s 4K HDR display, even regular 720p and even 480p SD resolution broadcast and DVD content will look positively superb unless you’re watching something that was just badly formatted or has delivery interruption problems. The Q60R even lets non-HDR non-4K content feeds benefit a bit from its high dynamic range specs. SDR movies or TV shows will play back with great general brightness while the Q60R’s overall high quality color delivery makes sure that even video sources without HDR color mastering look vibrant and nicely accurate. In other words, you don’t need purely 4K HDR video sources to get the most from an HDR TV like the Q60R.

Sound TL;DR: The basic sound quality is adequate, but receives a welcome sonic boost thanks to some clever AI enhancements. 

Any seasoned fan knows that huge portions of both shows feature super dark scenes, whether that’s because there’s no electricity in the Seven Kingdoms or because a Demogorgon smashed all the lights. Motion Handling The motion blur control of the LF621U19 Toshiba Fire TV is great, surprisingly so, as we mentioned above but in most other properties of motion handling, this particular 4K TV doesn’t-t perform especially well. Most users of the TV won’t even really notice these sorts of deficiencies because the motion blur handling for most ordinary content from TV or streaming sources is good but motion interpolation for slower frame rate content in the LF621U19 is barely decent and this television has no support for judder-free playback of 24p content from streaming media, discs or any other source at all. Judder doesn’t bother many TV viewers but some people are sensitive to it.
