The Samsung QNQ60R 4K HDR QLED TV shows its absolute weakest performance when it comes to its measurements for display luminosity and we’re not sure why Samsung had to screw one of its 2019 QLED TVs over so badly on something so important. In terms of how bright this TV can get, it performs no better than Samsung’s CHEAPEST 2018 mid-range and budget 4K TVs and that’s bad when you consider what even the cheapest 2018 QLEDs like the Q6N could all manage.

– Are you using a cord that allows for HD? If you are using an HDMI cord, which is great, is it super old? Or is it it new enough to take advantage of all the features on newer OTT devices?

The Shinco 55-inch 4K TV runs on Android 7 out of the box but this isn’t an Android TV which is a bummer considering how much we like the picture performance of the TV. It is AOSP. We have reviewed a few AOSP TVs in the past with their own custom launcher and the UI experience has been acceptable with a frustrating streaming service experience natively. Apps like Netflix and Prime Videos are only able to run their mobile versions and not the proper Android TV version. This makes navigating the UI of the app more cumbersome and also reduces the quality of the content playback. The only app that worked flawlessly with the keyboard typing experience and navigation was YouTube. 

What didn’t look so promising was evidence of under sampling of colors on the 1.2mm wall, resulting in contouring in images that showed color gradations. Samsung personnel insisted it was a problem with the content and not the display video card and driver. There was also evidence of some latency between different tiles, as seen with moving images. Some tiles were updating a split-second after others, resulting in a judder artifact. There are still some bugs in the machine that need to be worked out.
